From Saturday 24th September until Sunday 2nd October, we will be hosting a team of ten men in our parishes.

Members of the Team will also be taking part in some of our Church Services on both Sundays - the 25th September and the 2nd October.

Members of the team will be engaging with the community in different ways, walking in the footsteps of Jesus to bring the Gospel of peace to all.  

They will be walking around our Parishes, clearly visible in their bright red Walk West Dorset sweatshirts so please say hello to them.

They may even be knocking on your door to ask you about your faith in a quite non-aggressive way. This will give you an opportunity to share with them your feelings about the Christian faith in the modern world.

The Bishop of Sherborne writes, “I am greatly looking forward to joining in Walk West Dorset and I encourage others to join us. A wonderful opportunity to share the good news informally with fun and celebration.”

The Bishop will be coming to St Laurence Upwey on Sunday 2nd October for our Harvest Festival and dedication of the restored windows.  He will then be travelling to Lyme Regis for the Thanksgiving Service to conclude the two weeks of Walk West Dorset.

John Hibberd, the Through Faith Mission Team organiser, preaching at the Commissioning Service on Weymouth Beach on Saturday 24th September .

Following the service, our team members had a picnic in Greenhill Gardens before walking up from Weymouth to St Nicholas Church Broadwey where they are spending the week.

 

The Team will be coming into our Church School, St Nicholas and St Laurence, and the Wey Valley School, taking part in Collective Worship and RE Classes.

On Tuesday 27th – there will be a skittles Evening at the Old Ship Inn Upwey from 7.30pm.  Do come along and join in the fun. 

 

They will also be at our School Sausage Sizzle –Friday 30th September from 3.00pm onwards at St Nicholas and St Laurence School.  All Welcome

(All prices for food will be at cost.)
