Healing on the Streets (HOTS)has now been running for 14 weeks, with teams operating every Saturday morning from 10.00 a.m. to 12.00 noon outside of Nat West Bank in Weymouth Town Centre. We now have 64 people trained from 11 churches across Weymouth + Portland (and beyond to Bridport and Wool), with a further 14 people trained for use of the HOTS approach in their home churches.
Over the 14 weeks we have seen some remarkable things happen – here’s a few examples:
Last weekend a lady came and sat down suffering from severe pain to a leg and back. Afterwards she told us that she had hardly been able to walk in approaching the chair. After prayer the pain in her leg and back had completely gone – she was elated.
A youngster came and sat down to “give it a go” in front of his friends. He was colour blind in terms of being unable to tell the difference between shades of blue. After a short period of prayer we asked him to check out his friends t-shirts (which were different shades of blue) – to his amazement he could tell the difference. This encouraged his mate to sit down and have prayer for a foot injury which was causing him pain. After prayer he stood up – the pain had gone. Youngsters suitably impressed by what God had done!
One of our team came across a youngster who had a headache in her home church – “oh heck” was the initial reaction, but the team member was brave enough to pray for the youngster and the headache to go. 3-4 minutes later the headache had gone, much to family members’ amazement.
We’re never quite sure what will happen on a Saturday, or even what will happen with each individual we pray for, but we do pray with gentleness and a sense of expectation, with God doing stuff in powerful ways. As I hope you’re aware, we’re also careful with people after they’ve been prayed for – whilst we pray with expectation we make no guarantees and the follow-up pack clearly advises those taking medication to keep taking it and to continue seeing their doctor.
It’s hard for us to tell whether people who have been prayed for and experience something of God actually follow-up with a visit to church to find out more. Alongside the medical instructions the follow-up pack explains why people were prayed for, who the healer is (God not us!), and an invitation to contact or go along to a local church (full listings of churches in Weymouth + Portland and beyond are included in the pack). I’m aware of at least one call to a local church leader that was prompted by the person’s experience of HOTS, but there may be more.

As you may be aware the Healing on the Streets training took place last weekend. The training was held at Weymouth Baptist Church (many thanks to them) and was led by Mark Marx, the originator of HOTS, from the Causeway Vineyard Church in Coleraine Northern Ireland.

We saw some pretty amazing things during the training and on the streets as God visibly touched several people’s lives (if you want more info please give me a call), and it carried on into a few of our churches on Sunday morning. In all, we had around 140 people attend the training, with over half from Weymouth and Portland. Dorchester is likely to go live with HOTS in July.
This Saturday morning sees us take to the streets at our more regular time of 10.00 a.m. to 12 noon. If non-church people are prayed for they receive a pack afterwards which consists a “what to do now” letter and a list of churches across Weymouth and Portland. I’ve attached these documents for your information, just in case someone turns up at your church having been prayed for by the HOTS Team. Over 20 packs were given out last weekend.
